What is in it

10 needle files, 17.8cm / 7in

Ten different profiles: flat, half round, round, square, triangular and knife edge. These are the ones you reach for most, because support scars and layer seams are the jobs that never stop.

The ten needle file profiles

Carving set: 10 blades, 3 handles, hard case

Blades are 4cm, handles are 14cm, and they swap between the three handles. Chisel, angled, curved and scalpel profiles for trimming supports and cleaning elephant foot off a base. The case is 15.5 x 8.2cm so it lives on the desk rather than in a drawer.

The carving set open in its case

Deburring tool, 14.7cm, with 4 spare blades

The swivel head follows the edge you drag it along, so holes, deep holes, straight edges and curved edges all take one pass without changing your grip. Blades are 4.75cm and change with one button. The spares store inside the handle. Works on plastic, aluminium and copper.

The deburring tool and its spare blades

Flush cutters, 13cm / 5.1in

Heat treated edge, return spring, curved clamp head that gets in close for a flat cut. For supports, brims and cutting filament properly instead of folding it.

The flush cutters

Curved tweezers, 12cm

For pulling stringing and purge lines off a hot nozzle without using your fingers.

The curved tweezers

Sanding stick, 12cm

Flat abrasive on a stiff backing, for flattening a seam without rounding the whole edge off.

The sanding stick

What it actually does

The same printed part, support scars on one side and cleaned on the other
Same part, same angle. Left is off the plate, right is twenty minutes with the files and the carving blades.
Using the deburring tool on the edge of a printed part
The deburring tool taking elephant foot off a base. One pass, no gouging.

Who it is for

A print comes off the plate and it is not finished. Support scars down one side. A seam where the layers met. A ring of elephant foot round the base, and stringing bridged across every gap.

Getting a part from printed to finished is trimming, filing and sanding. It is taking supports off a surface someone is actually going to look at without leaving marks all over it. Your printer shipped with a scraper and one allen key and nothing at all for that, so whatever you grab from the kitchen drawer works right up until it slips.

Anyone past their first few prints. If you have only ever run a benchy, this is more than you need. If you have started printing things you care about, you already know which of these you have been improvising.

Who you are buying from

One person in Scotland, not a warehouse. I buy these in, open them, check them and post them myself.

This shop is new, so there are no reviews yet. I would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. It is also why the returns terms are what they are: if it turns up and you do not want it, you send it back and I refund you, and I am not going to make that difficult over one order.

Straight answers

Will it fit my printer? Yes. None of it is printer specific. If it is FDM, these tools work on it.

Is 32 pieces just padding? No, and here is the count so you do not have to work it out.

That is 31 tools, plus the hard case as the 32nd. The files and the blades are the two big groups because those are the parts you get through.

Are the cutters going to bend on the first support? The cutting edge is heat treated, which is what stops it rolling over. They are flush cutters, not general pliers, so use them on plastic and filament and not on wire.

Does it come in a case? The carving set comes in its own hard case. The files, cutters, deburring tool and tweezers are separate.

How fast does it ship? Posted from Scotland, same or next working day, Monday to Friday. Not drop shipped, so you are not waiting three weeks for it to clear customs.

What if I do not get on with it? Send it back within 14 days of it arriving, unused and complete, and you get a full refund. Return postage is on you unless something turned up faulty, in which case it is on me.
